Good Morning Everyone, My food as been a little boring so I decided to write an article on running instead.. Hope you enjoy :-)

Running

Running: the one’s who don’t do run want to and the one’s who do run have a love/hate relationship with it. But why run? The benefits of running out-weight the negatives. First, running “provides solid cardiovascular benefits that can improve overall health. When you run your arteries expand and contract three times as often as you do when standing still.”1 This also has shown to reduce blood pressure in tested patients. Running also can help people loose weight. By maintaining the exact same diet you are currently following and by running the equivalent of 3,500 calories a runner can loose one pound.2 Since the average runner burns 100 calories per mile if you run 8.5 miles per week you will loose one pound a month. Running also improves overall balance and posture. Since you are running outside you are bound to have to avoid nature., these changes in direction will strengthen your balance.3 Running is also a very popular sport because it can be done anywhere.  You don’t need a fancy gym, or some high tech equipment, all you need is a good pair of sneakers and some comfy clothes. Running also has many positive psychological effects. Running has also proven to reduce stress, create self-confidence, and improve mental alertness. Runner’s often get a runner’s high and a sense of self worth after a great run. Finally running will help you gain overall endurance. What can start as 10 minutes of running can end in being countless marathons. Many people feel as if they just can’t run. Myself and many other runners started out this way. When I started to run I couldn’t complete an entire run once around the track without stopping and catching my breath. I had given up countless times and thought my body was not built to run. That is until my mother was diagnosed with cancer. When she was diagnosed with cancer I was determined to run a race in her honor. I signed up for a cancer race that day and started my training. Things started slow; walking a half of mile, running a half mile. I soon built myself up to running a whole mile. I began my fundraising efforts and with every dollar raised I was even more inspired to run my 5K. I ended up raising over $500 dollars for cancer and completed my first 5K with my mom there to cheer me on at the finish line. Since my first 5K I have ran a couple of other races and just signed up for my first ½ marathon in March.

Here we are at my first 5K! I love you mom!
